Chadwell Heath is our training home, we should never leave, why not just build a better facility at CH??

We've always lagged behind those hook nosed cunts when it comes to facilities.

I used to live quite near the spurs training ground, but always used to avoid any route that passed it while walking the dog.

Then one day, I went the wrong way and ended up slap bang in front of it.

It looked like something from outer space, fucking impressive.

And this was the one apparently that wasn't good enough for them.

SOTA!

Have another topical bump. This issue isn't going anywhere.

Better facilities are simply more important than the next £10m player we bring in. Simple as that.

Re: Chadwell Heath
If anyone is questioning how outdated our training ground is, have a look on YouTube for some of the old 'Arry interviews where he is talking about the t'riffic youngster in the academy like Joe Cole and Michael Carrick.

The portacabins behind him are largely the same that are still there now. And that was in the mid 90's

Shame we signed Kieron Dyer really, that £18m could have gone a long way.

PS - We are not a top team because the players are not good enough

Re: Chadwell Heath
How much would it cost to set up a new state of the art training facility - £10-15 million?

Brighton & Tottenhams cost £30m a piece, whereas we have a compulsory purchase order on Chadwell Heath or at least there was in order to expand the rail line and then there is Rush Green which is just not big enough and would be like pouring money down the drain to develop..

Re: Chadwell Heath
I want to bump this thread, because all the criticism of the match against Spurs concerns player x or y or Bilic's tactics etc, but I think the bigger picture is still the circumstances around which clubs look to make long-term progress. Yet this issue sadly doesn't seem to stimulate discussion or debate.

Like it or not, Spurs have a really good record of improving players. They supposedly have state of the art facilities to do so. I look at a number of their players and I see individuals who have either been developed from scratch, or bought young and improved from there. The recurring story about Kane is how he was not seen as much of a talent, but has come through anyway. I think the same is true of Mason, Rose, Dier, Walker - they don't seem especially 'gifted' to me, but something at Spurs has seen them all push on towards top level. Some are overrated, sure, and many others fail, but generally I think their players trend upwards. Then they generate more in the transfer market, they cost less to maintain and replace, leading to the financial health of the club's approach.

I look at us and I see players who are at best maintained. Part of this is clearly down to Allardyce and his methods, and other than Reid I can't think of a single player who really obviously improved over that four year period. We're looking at Noble and Tomkins and wondering why they haven't pushed on over recent years. To me it's obvious that our players are not pushing on like they do at other clubs - that has to change.

We need to accept that the club must stop relying on the transfer market as a band-aid and actually take significant steps to improve facilities, coaching, infrastructure. Only then can we 'beat' Spurs. At the moment we can win in a one-off game, but we can't win over the long term, whatever the size of the stadium. Instead of just praying for new signings to fix our issues, we must bite the bullet and accept that the game is won in the long-term by improving players, not just buying new ones.

Re: Chadwell Heath
The Spurs / Chelsea facilities are spectacular..... might be a risk that it would breed a squad of pampered primadonas though.... need a happy medium.

At least Chadwell Heath probably keeps our players in the 'real world'.... so it's for their own good, just hope they realise it!

Re: Chadwell Heath
Mates mates (step mate?) is the director of the firm that built the new Brighton and Yid facilities said they're state of the art, he's got a box at Arsenal though but insisted they didn't do anything dodgy at the Yid facility.

Theres no way i could do something like that without some kind of shenanigans.

Wasn't the condition of the training ground cited as a possible reason for our lousy injury record a season or two ago?

Re: Chadwell Heath
It may be a simple financial driver keeping the club primary training facilities recorded at Chadwell Heath: compensation from CrossRail may be significantly higher if we are "forced" to decamp our first team elsewhere when they come to build whatever it is they need the land for.

Re: Chadwell Heath
>>> ...while it's not affecting recruitment or performance I suppose it's not an issue.

I would think in theory it directly affects performance. That's the whole point of better facilities and why this is a big issue.

I don't suppose all that many players see training facilities before they sign these days. But I bet it's a difference between thinking you're getting the best out of yourself as a player, and thinking that maybe this is a stepping stone to a better club with 'proper' facilities. And that same attitude may apply to staff - fighting against the lack of resources vs applying yourself to match the standards of excellence expected.

It's about an ethos that pretty clearly we have lacked for a long time.

It's a bit galling given the alleged ambition of the club that an outfit like Brighton have a training facility that is miles better than what we've got.

When we had our reservation appointment the chap said that pitch, near the Orbit, will be for community use. Think he mentioned all the people who will live in the new apartments a bit further up the Olympic Park.

Re: Chadwell Heath
I went to choose my seats at the Reservation Centre yesterday.

Whilst waiting to be seen, I had a play on the touch-screen plan view of the stadium.

It appears there will be a full size pitch by the side of the OS. It had a big WHU badge in the centre circle, so I assume it belongs to the club and used for training and reserve games?
